Featured Client: Physical Ed's Fitness Studio

Physical Ed's Fitness Studio in Natick is not your typical gym for any number of reasons, right down to the Tiki statues, painted palm trees and Marilyn Monroe posters mixed in with the other hand-picked décor.

It all starts with the Ed in the business’ name, champion power lifter Ed Carp. Carp, who won power-lifting titles throughout the 1980s and 1990s, has been training clients since 1995.

In the spring of 2008, business growth prompted Physical Ed's to move from his first space in Wayland into a new 3,100-square-foot facility in Natick, where personal training and nutrition counseling takes place in a private studio and self-guided workouts unfold in the nearby Tiki Room.

So where does this personal trainer and studio owner turn to ensure his balance sheet stays in tip-top shape?

Physical Ed's has been a client of Denise Cataldo CPA, P.C. since he was an independent personal trainer working in other people’s gyms. As Ed's business has grown and evolved, so has his professional relationship with Denise and her firm.

Currently, with an assist from the QuickBooks program, the firm handles the preparation of payroll checks for Ed's employee as well as forward-looking tax planning and the completion of both business and personal income tax returns at year’s end.

"Denise is awesome," says Ed.

Over the years, the relationship has grown along with Ed’s business. "I feel we’ve become good friends and I totally trust her with my business," he adds. "She's an amazing person to have on your side."
